
Dr. Rachelle L. Rogers-Ard

Rachelle Rogers-Ard directs, composes, and is the founder of the East Bay Anointed Voices. She received her undergraduate degree from Holy Names College, Oakland, California, where she double-majored in Music, Vocal Performance and Sociology. Mrs. Ard also holds a M. Ed. from Holy Names, with a concentration in Urban Education. She recently completed her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Mills College.
Rachelle taught for 10 years at Castlemont High School in Oakland, California where she continued the tradition of the renowned Castleer Vocal Ensemble program, served as the Performing Arts Department Chair, and gave English instruction to over 840 students.
This past decade, Mrs. Ard and the Castleers won numerous civic and National awards while finding the time to tour Los Angeles, Vancouver, Washington, DC, New York, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. In addition, Mrs. Ard’s career as an educator led her to found the first and only Gospel Choir at Holy Names College, which she taught from 1991 – 2000.
Mrs. Ard was the Director of Sonoma State University's first ever gospel ensemble, aptly named the True Vine Gospel Choir. Currently, Rachelle is an adjunct Professor in the Education Department at Holy Names College, and is the Artistic and Education Director of the Oakland Youth Chorus.
Many churches have had the benefit of Rachelle’s vast ecumenical experience, including St. Benedict and St. Patrick churches in Oakland, First AME Zion church, Faith Presbyterian Church, and Evergreen, Friendship, and Harmony Baptist Churches.
Rachelle has been the Minister of Music at Greater Cooper AME Zion church in Oakland for the past 15 years, where she coordinates six choirs and five musicians. In addition, Rachelle was nominated for Director of Year by the Bay Area Gospel Music Academy in 2000.
