DONALD W. TAYLOR
Director
East Bay Anointed Voices
Donald W. Taylor has been composing gospel music and writing lyrics since 1975. He became an acknowledged songwriter in 1978 in Okinawa, Japan where he asked Jesus Christ to come into his life. While in Japan, Jesus manifested His presence in Donald's heart and since then gospel music and lyrics have become his way to express his personal testimony about the wonderful love he has for Jesus.
Donald believes that without Jesus in his life there would be no music, and because Jesus has never let him down and has never left him alone, he will always trust in Jesus. Donald always testifies that his very own existence depends on Jesus Christ, His Savior!
Donald has been privileged to work with Helen Stephens and the Voices of Christ, the late Rev. James Cleveland and the Voices of Integrity, under the direction of Rev. Daryl Coley. He has also performed on two of Rev. Coley's CD's and videos, "He's Right On Time" and "Live In Oakland, Home Again". Donald performed on tour with Earth, Wind and Fire, and has recently performed with Jonathan Butler on tour in Africa.
Donald received training under Vincent Gomez, Dr. John Allen McBride, Rev. Daryl Coley, and Rev. Calvin Bernard Rhone.
Donald gives thanks to God for the pastors and the church congregations that have allowed him to express his testimony through gospel music: Village Baptist Church in Marin; First Mission and Second Baptist Churches in Santa Ana, CA; Good Samaritan Seventh Day Adventist Church in Westminster; St. John Baptist Church in Long Beach and St. John Baptist Church in Los Angeles; Taylor Chapel C.M.E. Church in Vallejo and Evergreen Baptist Church in Oakland, CA; Bishop E. Lynn Brown and the Northern California Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church; Dorothy Stanton and Sharon Braun of the Interdenominational Children's Choir of the Bay Area; and the Randle Family and United Baptist Church in Okinawa, Japan.
